We Provide in Home Pet Sitting for Tucson's Pet Owners

We currently care for your pet(s) in the comfort of your own home. However, additional services are coming soon, so stay tuned!

While we mostly work with dogs and cats, we have cared for fish, rabbits, turtles and other smaller animals. We can care for your furry, feathery, finned or scaly friends as long as you provide detailed instructions on how to safely do so.

Absolutely! We book a required 15- to 30-minute meet-and-greet with all new clients so we can meet you and learn your pet’s routine and favorite things. Your trust, comfort and confidence are important to us, along with your pet’s trust, happiness and care. A happy, safe pet = a happy, relaxed you!

We can visit one to four times a day (30- or 60-minute visits). If your pet needs more time, consider booking one of our extended stay options. We can help you decide what is best for you and your pet during the initial meet-and-greet. We require at least three visits per day for pups, depending on size and age (or minimum of four per day if a pup is crated). For adult cats, a minimum of one visit per day is required.

Because we care for many pets in a day, we cannot guarantee exact times unless previously discussed. We request two-hour windows in which you would like service provided. Exceptions can be made for pets with dietary or medical needs (to be discussed during your meet-and-greet).

For the safety of our pack leaders and the pets in our care, we require updated health records as well as rabies and DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza) vaccinations.

There are a lot of predators and safety hazards for pets in our beautiful desert, so we cannot insure any pet or property with a doggy door or unlocked door. We require all doors to be locked to protect your home and ensure the safety of our sitters.

We are willing to evaluate a situation where a dog has access to a doggy door, but they must be of a certain height and weight. We cannot insure animals who have access to the yard when we are not there. We do not allow cats to go outside during a pet-sitting service.

Bookings are based on availability so we recommend booking as soon as you know your pet will need care! If availability allows, we accept last-minute bookings for an additional fee.

We require payment at the time of booking. Full payment secures your booking on our calendar!

Pura Vida Pet Care is committed to providing excellent service to our clients. When a client cancels, it results in missed opportunities for your reserved pet sitter and other pets and leaves gaps in our schedules. For this reason, we strictly enforce our cancellation policy:

Pet Sitting, Dog Walking, and Pet Concierge Services:

48 hours or more before reservation begins = 100% refund

24-47 hours before reservation begins = 50% refund

Less than 24 hours before reservation begins = no refund

Holiday and Overnight Services:

10 days or more before reservation begins = 100% refund

5-9 days or more before reservation begins = 50% refund

Less than 5 days before reservation begins = no refund

Wedding and Event Attendant Services:

28 days or more before reservation begins = 100% refund

21-27 days before reservation begins = 75% refund

14-20 days before reservation begins = 50% refund

7-13 days before reservation begins = 25% refund

Less than 7 days before reservation begins = no refund

Not unless you request a pack walk or adventure hike. Otherwise, your pup is getting one-on-one time, which means ALL the love and attention! We do not allow dogs to go off-leash while walking or interact with other dogs or people during their walk.

We always take everyone’s health, safety and happiness into consideration! Weather adjustments will be made during high-temp days (above 90º during daytime hours). We will only keep your pet outside long enough for a quick walk and potty relief. Any remaining time will be spent inside with lots of play, mental exercise, attention, and belly/head rubs.

We love pets of all ages, sizes and needs. Please ask how we can help provide the safest, most comfortable experience for your pet. If we are unable to help, we will always be upfront and honest because everyone’s health, happiness and safety are top priority.

Unfortunately at this time, we cannot accept untrained dogs who have a history of biting or aggression. However, feel free to ask us for some recommendations on great trainers who can work with your pup to help get them safely prepared for the Pura Vida Pack!

If we suspect something is wrong with your pet, we will call the emergency numbers on file. If you or your emergency contact wants a vet to examine your pet, we will transport them to the vet’s office for examination and treatment.

In the event that we cannot reach you or your emergency contact, we will use professional judgment to decide if a vet should see your pet. If necessary, medical treatment will be done through your preferred vet or, if they cannot be reached, through a veterinarian of our choice. You will be billed for extra time we spend on these services and any required treatment costs.

All bookings are made through our secure scheduling software, Time to Pet, and we accept Zelle, Apple Pay, Venmo, and all major credit and debit cards.

You are welcome to reward your sitter or walker for a job well done by leaving a tip directly or through the online invoicing software. Tipping is a thoughtful gesture for rewarding excellent service and is greatly appreciated!

We sure do. We appreciate your referrals, which is why, if you refer a family, friend, neighbor or coworker who books, you’ll receive a FREE 30-minute stop-in or walk up to a $25 value.

Two working copies of your house keys are required for each sitting. If you are not ready to give a Pura Vida team member the keys during the meet-and-greet, we recommend you find a safe hiding place for your key before and after our visits (preferably a key box or lock code). Even if you use a garage opener or lock code, a physical copy of the key is required and will be safely stored at the main office in case of an unexpected emergency.

We can arrange key pick-up and drop-off for an additional $15 each way.

We do not lock keys inside the house after the last scheduled visit because there may be unforeseen circumstances that cause your return to be delayed, and we want your pet(s) to remain safe and healthy.
